West Virginia State University Athletics

Clara Sobius joined the WVSU tennis staff in Aug. 2026 as a Graduate Assistant. Sobius comes to State after a four-year playing career at Tarleton State University. At Tarleton State, Sobius was a two-time Western Athletic Conference (WAC) All-Tournament Team, earning the honor in 2022 for doubles play and again in 2024 as a singles player. 

Sobius was named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team in 2025, and was also involved in the Tarleton State Student-Athlete Advisory Council, where she collaborated with other members to provide insight to athletics administration on issues impacting the Tarleton State student-athlete experience. She also served as a Transportation Assistant for the 2024 Rogers Cup tennis tournament in Montreal. 

Her coaching experience includes time as an Assistant Tennis Coach at Roxboro Tennis Club in Montreal, as well as a summer camp coach for Mohawk Tennis Club.
