John Ashworth will be entering his third season at West Virginia State as the Assistant Defensive Backs Coach after moving from Outside Linebackers the previous year.
In 2016 he led a punt return team that finished second in the MEC and has worked with two All-MEC players and three MEC All Academic Team players.
Coach Ashworth began coaching football at West Virginia State in 2015 after moving from his private sector job at Steptoe & Johnson PLLC.
He is a native of Cross Lanes,WV, and member of the Poca High Class of 2006.. He then went on to West Virginia University where he graduated in 2011 with a degree in Leadership.
