Andrew Workman

Andrew Workman enters his fourth year on the coaching staff at West Virginia State University in 2022. He currently serves as the Offensive Line Coach, Run Game Coordinator, and Academic Coordinator for the Yellow Jackets.

Workman joined the WVSU coaching staff in Feb. of 2018 as a student assistant and quickly moved up the ranks. He was promoted to a full-time assistant in 2019 and was responsible for coaching tight ends, fullbacks, and special teams as well recruiting in the southern W.Va., Ky., and Columbus, Ohio areas.

From Jan. of 2019 until Dec. of 2020, he performed the duties of a full-time assistant coach while making the Dean's List every semester at West Virginia State. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in History in Nov. of 2020.

Workman then accepted a position as an Assistant Coach at Guilford College in 2021 where his primary responsibility was working with the offensive line. His experience gained there prepared him for his current position at WVSU which he accepted before the start of the 2022 season.   

Prior to joining the football staff at WVSU, Workman served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, including two deployments, as a radio operator. He was promoted to Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge. Workman gained valuable experience in operating advanced communication systems, implementing physical training programs, and utilizing leadership techniques to motivate subordinates during his service. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two Meritorious Masts and a Good Conduct Medal while in the service.

Workman resides in Barboursville, W.Va. with his lovely wife, Tayla. He is an Eagle Scout in addition to his other many accomplishments.  Â
