INSTITUTE – Leila Karam of the West Virginia State University women's soccer team has been named the Mountain East Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan. This is her first conference award of the season and the second consecutive week a Yellow Jacket has earned conference player of the week honors.

Karam, a senior from Canada, played in both matches this week for WVSU, scoring a pair of goals Sunday in a 3-1 win at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She also recorded an assist on the match-winning goal Wednesday against Concord University. She currently shares the MEC lead in goals scored with four and ranks ninth in the conference in shots on goal per game.

WVSU returns to action twice this week, beginning Wednesday when it hosts Wheeling University at Lakin-Ray Field at Dickerson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
