CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia State University men's golf team opened its season at the UC Invitational this week, finishing in 18th place. Brennen Sang and Jayce Feazelle both carded a tournament total of 229 to lead the Yellow Jackets.
Sang carded a 76 in round one, just ahead of the 77 turned in by Feazelle. Sang followed with a 79 in round two before shooting a 74 to close the event. Feazelle shot a 75 in round two and a 77 in the final round. Gavin Stollings, competing in his first collegiate tournament, posted a three-round 237, including a 77 in the second round and a 79 in round three.
William Wentz and Austin Brooks rounded out the WVSU lineup. Wentz finished with a three-round total of 241, while Brooks recorded a 248. The Yellow Jackets also featured three players competing as individuals, led by Chase Venes, who shot a 233, including an even-par 70 in the final round. Cameron Wooten and Holden Young also competed, with Wooten carding a tournament total of 263 and Young shooting a 320.
WVSU returns to the course next week at the Wally Edgell Invitational, hosted at Stonewall Resort by West Virginia Wesleyan College.
