INSTITUTE – West Virginia State University volleyball coach Shannon Gerencir has announced the Yellow Jackets 2026 schedule. The Yellow Jackets, who advanced to the Mountain East Conference championship match last season, are looking for their third trip to the NCAA Atlantic Regional in the last four seasons. 

"I am very excited about getting the season started," Gerencir said. "The student athletes worked very hard this Spring and we are all ready to get back to it this Fall. They are hungry to have a great season and to get back to the MEC tournament!"

WVSU will open the season Aug. 28-29 at the West Chester Crossover. The Yellow Jackets will face Jefferson Friday afternoon before facing the host Rams and Millersville Saturday. WVSU then hosts the annual WVSU-UC Crossover, hosting five matches over two days. The Yellow Jackets will host Young Harris and Roosevelt Friday Sept. 4 before facing Shepherd on Sept. 5. 

After a trip to Wheeling, W.Va. for another four matches, WVSU will open Mountain East Conference play Sept. 18 against Wheeling, with their MEC home opener set for Sept. 22 inside the Walker Convocation Center. WVSU will host a total of 12 home matches, including a crosstown rivalry matchup with Charleston Tuesday Oct. 6. The MEC Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 13-15.
