INSTITUTE – West Virginia State University Cross Country head coach Devonte Nesby has released the 2026 men's cross country schedule. The 2026 schedule will see WVSU compete in four events prior to the Mountain East Conference championships in October. 

"This group is hungry," Nesby said. "We've challenged them to trust the process, compete for one another, and embrace the work that comes with building a championship program. We're looking forward to seeing how much we've grown once the season begins."

The Yellow Jackets will open the season Sept. 4 at the Thundering Herd XC Invite, hosted by Marshall University. Their next meet will be Sept. 18 at the 55th annual Patty Forgey Rio Grande Cross Country Invitational. 

WVSU will compete in two meets in October prior to the MEC championships, including the Oct. 9 Concord XC Invite before closing the regular season at the MSU/KCU Eagle/Knight Invite. The season will conclude Oct. 24 at the Mountain East Conference Cross Country Championships, to be held in Wheeling, W.Va.
