WVSU announces 2026 women's soccer schedule

6/24/2026 12:13:00 PM

INSTITUTE – The 2026 West Virginia State University women's soccer schedule has been unveiled, featuring nine home games for WVSU under second-year head coach Jacob Edwards. The Yellow Jackets are aiming to make their fourth NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional appearance in the last five seasons this year.

"Heading into the 2026 season, I couldn't be more excited to see what this group of players can achieve," Edwards said. "We have a fantastic group of hard-working, talented players who are motivated to making sure we continue with our recent successes. We've been blessed with quality players in previous seasons and the new incoming players are relishing the challenge and opportunity to make their own positive impact on this program. It's a difficult conference that brings challenges regardless of which opposition we face, but we're excited for August, starting preseason and seeing what the 2026 season brings".

The Yellow Jackets will open the season Aug. 27 at Shepherd, who advanced to the Atlantic Regional final last season, before their home opener Aug. 30 against a Kutztown team that fell in the opening round of the Atlantic Regional last season. WVSU will open Mountain East Conference play Sept. 6 when they host Glenville State.

WVSU will host West Liberty Oct. 4 in their homecoming game on Lakin-Ray Field at Dickerson Stadium before playing four of their final six matches at home, including a matchup Oct. 28 against Charleston in the regular season finale. Game times are subject to change.
