FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The 2025-26 season came to an end for the West Virginia State men's tennis team Monday, as they fell 4-0 to Jefferson in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Atlantic Regional. This concludes a historic season that saw the Yellow Jackets reach the regional tournament for the first time in program history.
WVSU picked up a win at no. 1 doubles, as Forkane Lebdi and Wacil El Hanafi won 6-3, but Jefferson won the other two matches to take the point. Jefferson then won three singles matches, including a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 win at no. 3 singles, as well as straight sets wins at no. 5 and no. 6 singles. All other matches remain unfinished.
In the no. 1 singles match, which was unfinished, Lebdi dropped the first set 6-7, and had a 4-3 lead in the second set at the point of conclusion. Niclas Naedele won a set at no. 2 singles, forcing a decisive third set that went unfinished as well. Facundo Campana Urcia won the first set of his match 7-6, but dropped the second set before an unfinished third set.
