INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- Men's and Women's Track & Field continued their 2026 Outdoor campaign at the UC Invitational at Laidley Field at UC Stadium.

The Yellow Jacket women were paced by standout performances from Temiloluwa Jaf-Ogunlayi, who won the 200 meters in 24.90 and placed second in the 100 in 12.00. Amia DenMark added a runner-up finish in the 400 hurdles with a personal-best 1:07.70, while Kennedi Green scored with a fifth-place finish in the 800 at 2:24.49. Akeelah Ling (sixth, 200m), Jayla Woods (seventh, 400m) and Danielle Perez (seventh, high jump) also contributed points, with Perez competing across multiple events. In the field, Raina Massey placed fifth in the discus at 36.20 meters, rounding out a balanced performance for West Virginia State that included several personal-best efforts from a young roster.

West Virginia State delivered a strong showing on the men's side, highlighted by multiple podium finishes in the field events and key scoring efforts on the track. Alex Amartey led the way with a runner-up finish in the discus at 45.56 meters, adding a ninth-place mark in the hammer throw, while Demary Toney placed fifth in the discus at 42.98 meters. In the high jump, newcomer to the roster Loakkhae Uth-Smith cleared 1.85 meters to finish second and Curtis McCray matched that height for fourth. On the track, Malik Kelsic placed fifth in the 200 meters in 21.95, and Emmanuel Ojo added a fifth-place finish in the 800 with a personal-best 1:57.86. Simi Jaf-Ogunlayi posted a solid 11.55 in the 100 meters, while Day'Vonne Singleton (50.81 in the 400), Adenjii Abbott and Sergio Rose Jr. contributed depth, with Rose recording a personal best in the 400 hurdles.
