INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State completed a doubleheader sweep over West Virginia Wesleyan on April 3 in Buckhannon, riding timely hitting and steady pitching across both games.

Aidan Paulsen and
Ethan Spolarich to take control.
Angel Oquendo led the offense with two hits and three runs scored, while
Michael Bittinger added two hits at the top of the lineup. On the mound,
Karson Frye earned the win, allowing just one earned run over four innings before the bullpen combination of

In Game 2, West Virginia State carried that momentum into a 6-4 victory to complete the sweep. The Yellow Jackets jumped ahead with two runs in the second and added another in the third before Wesleyan rallied to tie the game in the fourth. WVSU responded immediately, scoring twice in the fifth behind RBI hits from Paulsen and Spolarich to regain the lead. Paulsen finished with two hits and two runs, while Spolarich and
Nate Bittinger each drove in a run. B. Moore picked up the win on the mound, striking out six over four innings, and C. Tomasik shut the door in relief, allowing just one run over the final three frames. WVSU added a key insurance run in the sixth and held off a late push to secure the sweep.
