Woods earns MEC All-Conference honors at Outdoor Track and Field championships

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia State women's track and field team capped off the season at the 2026 Mountain East Conference Outdoor Track and Field championships, with the Yellow Jackets finishing the three-day event in 10th-place. 

Jayla Woods earned All-MEC Second Team honors in the 400 meter finals, finishing in 55.93 seconds, besting her prelims time of 57.54 seconds. Temiloluwa Jaf-Ogunlayi was fifth in the 100 meters, crossing the finish line in 12.51 seconds. She also qualified for the 200 meter finals, posting a preliminary time of 24.72 seconds. 

Amia DenMark was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing in 1:07.57. The 4x100 relay team consisting of Woods, Danielle Perez, DenMark and Akeelah Ling finished fifth, crossing the finish line in 48.03 seconds. 

Raina Massey had a fifth-place finish in the discus throw, marking 40.13 meters. She was also 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.37 meters, while also marking 10.71 meters in the shot put event
