INSTITUTE, W. Va. – Cassidy Cummings of the West Virginia State softball team was named Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan. This is the first conference Player of the Week award for WVSU softball this season. 

Cummings started all four games for the Yellow Jackets, batting .455 with four RBI and two doubles. She started the week going 1-for-1 against Charleston, with a double and three walks before going 3-for-6 Sunday against West Virginia Wesleyan, with three RBI and a double. She also had a stolen base on the week.
