Yellow Jackets drop home dual to Golden Eagles

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The West Virginia State men's tennis team won a pair of singles matches Tuesday afternoon, but ultimately dropped their Mountain East Conference dual, 5-2 to local rivals University of Charleston. 

The loss brings WVSU to 10-5 on the season, while the Golden Eagles improve to 11-7. 

The Golden Eagles won all three doubles matches, though at no. 3 doubles Heinrich Lindeque and Patchara Suklian forced a tiebreak, falling 7-6 (7-3). 

Forkane Lebdi earned a three-set win at the top singles flight for WVSU, earning a 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 victory. The Yellow Jackets also earned a win at no. 2 singles, where Niclas Naedele won after his opponent retired from the match. UC went on to take each of the final four matches, with Facundo Campana Urcia forcing a third set at no. 5 singles, falling 4-6, 6-2, 2-6. 

West Virginia State will be back on the court to close the regular season at West Virginia Wesleyan. That match will be Friday afternoon in Buckhannon, W.Va.
