INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- In a three-team National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) tri-meet Friday night, Glenville State University hosted West Virginia State University and Kutztown University in a competitive early-season showdown. The unbeaten Pioneers protected their home floor, while Kutztown delivered a steady performance to claim second. The Yellow Jackets continued to battle as they search for consistency heading deeper into the 2026 season.
Glenville State led from the outset and finished with a meet-best 253.105, followed by Kutztown at 220.155. West Virginia State totaled 102.600 on the night. For WVSU, the Compulsory event featured encouraging moments, including a 6.15 in the Pyramid Heat and a 4.50 in the Toss Heat as the Jackets posted 14.70 in the opening round. State found additional highlights in Pyramid, earning 22.85 overall and recording an 8.15 in the Inversion Heat. The Yellow Jackets also added 17.85 in Acro, continuing to show growth in execution despite facing depth challenges, and remained competitive through the Team Event.
While Glenville State's depth — particularly in Tumbling and the Team Event — ultimately separated the field, West Virginia State showed resilience throughout the meet. The tri-meet provided valuable experience for the Yellow Jackets as they continue refining routines and building toward stronger finishes in upcoming NCATA competition.
