Game One: WVSU 7, Salem 5

West Virginia State used a five-run second inning to take control and held off a late push from Salem to win 7-5 in the opener of Saturday's doubleheader at Lady Jackets Field. State sent ten batters to the plate in the second, highlighted by an RBI single from Sydney Shamblin, a two-run single by Autumn Hall, and a bases-loaded RBI hit from Olivia Bell. WVSU added two insurance runs in the sixth, capitalizing on a Salem error and a sacrifice fly from Rachel Affolter.

Autumn Hall pitched a complete game for the Yellow Jackets, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out five. Shamblin went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Hall also contributed at the plate with a pair of RBIs. Salem was led by Kendall Lemley, who went 4-for-4 with a home run and a double. The Tigers scored three unearned runs in the sixth and added two more in the seventh, but State held on to secure the win,

Game Two: Salem 7, WVSU 1

Salem struck for six runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 7-1 win in game two of the doubleheader. West Virginia State starter Alex Hill faced eight batters and allowed six earned runs before being relieved by Kelley Bickers. Salem added an unearned run in the fifth to extend its lead. Bella Ortiz drove in two runs with a double in the first, and Jazmyn Moetului and Kylie Zinn added RBI hits in the inning.

WVSU's lone run came in the third when Sydney Shamblin singled and later scored on a throwing error. The Yellow Jackets were limited to four hits, including singles by Shamblin, Kylie Price, Emma Pauley, and a pinch-hit effort by Emily Bechtel. Bickers and Chloe Treadway combined to allow just one earned run in 6.2 innings of relief, but the early deficit proved too large. Kendall Lemley earned the win for Salem, striking out four in a complete-game effort.
