INSTITUTE, W.Va. — West Virginia State University's Kinley Stanley has been named to the All-Mountain East Conference Second Team, marking the first All-MEC honor in the history of WVSU's Acrobatics & Tumbling program.
Stanley, a sophomore utility from Nashville, Tenn., served as a key contributor in multiple event groups throughout the season. She maintained a 7.821 average in the open solo tumbling heat, which she competed in at every meet. In addition, Stanley helped anchor WVSU's open pyramid, one of the team's most successful heats this season, which earned a 10.0 start value — the first for the Yellow Jackets outside of compulsory heats. She also averaged an 8.37 in the compulsory pyramid, 7.24 in the 6-element acro, 8.71 in the open pyramid, and 7.64 in toss events.
A true utility athlete, Stanley competed across multiple positions throughout the season, regularly performing as a tumbler and base while stepping in as a top when needed. Her consistency and versatility were instrumental in the team's growth during its second year of competition.
"Kinley has been a constant tumbler and base, and even steps in to top when necessary," Head Coach Kaitlyn Miller said. "She truly is a utility player for our team. Kinley is a kind and well-rounded athlete and we cannot wait to see what else she brings to the table."
Stanley's recognition highlights the continued progress of WVSU's Acrobatics & Tumbling program, which completed its second season of competition in 2024-25.
