ATHENS, W.Va. — West Virginia State dropped both games of a doubleheader to Concord on Saturday at the CU Softball Field. The Yellow Jackets have now dropped six straight games.

Game 1: WVSU 5, Concord 8
The Yellow Jackets totaled 10 hits but could not overcome a six-run middle stretch by Concord. WVSU trailed 1-0 before tying the game in the fourth on a solo home run by Clarke Moore. After Concord answered with four runs in the bottom half and two more in the fifth, WVSU added single runs in the fifth and seventh, including a three-run home run by Emily Bechtel in the final frame. Bechtel finished with three RBIs. Kylie Price and Moore each recorded two hits. Autumn Hall took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in 3.2 innings.
Game 2: WVSU 0, Concord 7
In Game 2, WVSU was held to one hit in a 7-0 shutout. Concord scored in three straight innings beginning in the third, with West Virginia State using four pitchers in the loss. Bechtel had the team's lone hit in the second inning. The Yellow Jackets' offense was stymied by Concord's Mahailey Nicholson, who struck out eight in a complete game. Kelley Bickers took the loss after surrendering three earned runs in 2.1 innings. Hall, the Game 1 starter, threw the final inning in relief.
