WVSU falls to Fairmont State

3/2/2025 7:36:00 PM

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- West Virginia State put up a determined effort against Fairmont State but ultimately fell 257.910-186.015 in an NCATA matchup on Sunday. Despite the loss, WVSU showed resilience, improving in several heats against the undefeated Falcons.

WVSU falls to 1-3 while Fairmont State improves to 5-0.

The Yellow Jackets posted a strong effort in the Pyramid event, with a standout 9.300 in the Open Heat, demonstrating precision and execution. However, Fairmont State controlled the meet from the start, building an early lead with a near-flawless Compulsory event, scoring 36.450 to WVSU's 21.000. The Yellow Jackets faced an uphill battle throughout but showed promise in Toss and Tumbling heats, notably an 8.175 in the Open Pass. Fairmont's depth proved too much in the Team Event, where they outscored WVSU 87.260-63.090 to seal the win.

Despite the setback, WVSU continues to build momentum and will look to improve in their next meet when Wheeling comes into the Walker Convocation Center on Monday, March 10 at 6:00 p.m.
