INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University secured a milestone victory Wednesday, defeating Bluefield State University 213.70 to 196.675 in its first dual meet of the season. The win marked a historic moment for WVSU, as the Yellow Jackets surpassed 200 points in competition for the first time in program history.

WVSU set the tone early, earning 27.25 points in the compulsory event to take the lead over Bluefield State's 25.65. Strong execution in the acro and pyramid events widened the margin, with the Yellow Jackets posting a combined 73.45 points compared to Bluefield State's 71.05.

The momentum continued in the tumbling event, where WVSU tallied 38.50 points before capping the meet with an impressive 77.45-point performance in the team event.

West Virginia State will look to build on its historic performance in their next competition on Sun. Mar. 2 against Fairmont State.
