GLENVILLE, W.Va. — West Virginia State mounted a high-powered second-half charge behind a career performance from junior forward Trey Harris, but Glenville State answered with timely shot-making in the final minutes to hand the Yellow Jackets a 99–92 setback Saturday evening inside the Waco Center. Harris erupted for a career-best 33 points, hitting 7-of-10 from three and pouring in 20 second-half points as State uncorked a 53-point second period to nearly erase a 15-point deficit.

Harris led the Jackets with a career-high 33 points on 12-of-16 shooting, including seven makes from three. Bourne added 16 points on an efficient 5-of-7 night, with three threes and three assists, while Subject delivered 14 points, five boards, three assists and three blocks. Smith matched Subject with 14 points and chipped in two assists, and Shull contributed eight points with a pair of threes across 34 minutes. Toussaint added five points and a team-high six rebounds, while Belkhaddar, Wilkes and the supporting group supplied defensive minutes and ball movement that helped fuel the strong second-half push.

As a team, West Virginia State shot 52.5 percent from the floor and nearly 52 percent from long range while converting 16 of its 23 attempts at the foul line. The Jackets totaled 27 rebounds—26 of them defensive—and assisted on 14 baskets while committing 11 turnovers. State generated 26 points in the paint, four fast-break points, four second-chance points and 30 from the bench, showcasing a deep and balanced rotation that helped power its second-half surge.

Glenville State's offense was paced by Elijah Redfern, who scored 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting while adding eight assists and six rebounds. Don Colon-Lewis followed with 18 points and seven boards, and Ammar Maxwell added 15 points, including three three-pointers. Jalen Knott chipped in 15 points as well, giving the Pioneers four double-figure scorers in a high-tempo performance that proved just enough to withstand WVSU's comeback.

Glenville State opened fast, hitting three early threes to build an 8–0 lead before the Jackets settled in. Andrew Shull sparked State's response with a transition three, Aymeric Toussaint hammered home a breakaway dunk, and Ishmael Smith buried a pair of mid-range jumpers as WVSU climbed in front 12–10. The Jackets' bench continued the momentum, with Norris Bourne Jr. knocking down a three and finishing multiple drives while Jaylen Subject added a three-pointer, a layup and six first-half free throws. But Glenville closed the half on a decisive 15–2 run behind Elijah Redfern and Don Colon-Lewis, sending State into the break trailing 50–39.

The Jackets surged out of halftime with renewed pace and precision. Shull started the scoring with a jumper, Smith and Hassan Belkhaddar converted inside, and Harris began a blistering scoring stretch that included five three-pointers in an 11-minute span. His fourth make from deep pulled State within 82–80, capping a 21–8 run that turned the game back into a single-possession contest. WVSU continued to trade blows down the stretch—Bourne drilled another three, Subject finished at the rim and Shull added a deep make—but Redfern and Colon-Lewis answered each push and Glenville secured late defensive stops to preserve the win.

West Virginia State finished the night shooting 52.5 percent from the field (31-of-59) and 51.9 percent from three (14-of-27), while adding 16 free throws, 27 rebounds, and 14 assists to go along with 30 points off the bench. The Yellow Jackets received double-figure scoring from three players behind Harris: Bourne supplied 16 points, hitting three threes and grabbing four rebounds, while Subject delivered 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and three blocks in one of his most complete outings of the season. Smith added 14 points of his own on 5-of-8 shooting.

Glenville State countered with a balanced offensive display that produced 39 made field goals, including 13 threes, and generated 38 points in the paint and 18 in transition. Redfern led the Pioneers with 26 points and eight assists, while Colon-Lewis added 18 points and seven rebounds, and Ammar Maxwell finished with 15 points. Glenville also held a 38–27 advantage on the glass and committed only seven turnovers.

The loss drops West Virginia State to 3–5 (0–3 MEC) entering Wednesday's home matchup against Wheeling at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 10.
