BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference (MEC) announced the MEC All-Academic Team and MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll for winter and spring 2024 on Friday afternoon. A total of 73 student-athletes from West Virginia State earned academic honors from the league, far surpassing last year's total of 58 Yellow Jackets.
To be a member of the All-MEC Academic Team, the student-athlete must be a member of the active roster and have a grade-point average of 3.70-4.00 in the semester of their sports championship season. To qualify for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a member of the active roster and post a grade-point average between 3.25-3.69 in the semester of their championship season.
An impressive 32 Yellow Jackets were named to the MEC All-Academic Team after earning a 3.70 GPA or better in their season of competition. Another 41 WVSU student-athletes made the MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll after posting between a 3.25 and 3.69 GPA during the championship season of their respective sports.
