WVSU drops two on the road to Notre Dame College

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – West Virginia State's softball team dropped a pair of games on the road to Notre Dame College on Saturday. The Falcons took game one on a one-hit shutout, 3-0, then scored seven unanswered runs in the final three innings to end game two in six, 10-2.

Post Game Records
WVSU: 18-21, 10-10 MEC
NDC: 26-17, 9-9 MEC

Game 1 - WVSU 0, NDC 3
NDC got the first hit of the game in the bottom of the second and had a runner on third, but Thompson induced a pop up to end the threat. State's lone hit of the game came when Kerigan Moore belted a one-out double into left center. She was stranded at second after the next two batters struck out.

NDC hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth, 1-0. They then scored two more with an RBI ground out and an RBI single. State went down in order in the final four innings.

Game 2 - WVSU 2, NDC 10 (6 inn.)
Emele Clark led off the game with a single into left field then stole second. Emma Pauley sent a rocket into center field, scoring Clark, 1-0.

It wasn't until the bottom of the third that the Falcons had an answer when they hit an RBI double and a bases-clearing, two-RBI single, 3-1.

Pauley promptly answered the Falcons in the next half inning, getting an infield single then advancing to second on a throwing error by the shortstop. She came home on a sacrifice fly by Clarke Moore, 3-2.

The Falcons got that run back in the bottom half of the fourth when a throw down on a steal attempt went awry. A double steal, a sacrifice fly with one out, and a two-out RBI single extended the NDC lead, 7-2.

Another RBI single, this time in the bottom of the fifth for the Falcons made it 8-2 NDC. A two-run walkoff homerun in the bottom of the sixth put the Falcons up by eight and ended the game.
