BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia State's Chris Morris (Edenton, N.C./John A. Holmes) was named the Mountain East Conference's Pitcher of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, for the second-consecutive week on Monday.

Morris (2-1) threw a complete game shutout at Wheeling on Sunday. He tossed a one-hitter through four innings and only gave up three hits in the full seven innings. One of those hits went for extra bases and was a double. He recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts and ended the game by striking out the side in order. He finished the game with 93 pitches thrown.

Morris currently leads the MEC in ERA (1.78). He ranks second in the league in both opposing batting average (.176) and innings pitched (30.1). His 29 batters struck out is third-best in the conference.
