INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State University (5-2-2, 5-1-1 MEC) earned an impressive 2-0 victory over the second-ranked team in the MEC North, Fairmont State (5-3-1, 4-2-0 MEC) on Sunday afternoon at Lakin-Ray Field. The Yellow Jackets barely outshot the Fighting Falcons 12-11, but put two more shots on target then Fairmont State, both of which found the back of the net.
Sara París Fílter and
Sandra Linares led the offense, each scoring a goal. París Fílter also added an assist, contributing to 3 total points. Linares was a constant threat with 4 shots, 2 of them on goal.

Laura Galindo each provided an assist, with Galindo earning her first career assist while also making 4 saves to secure the clean sheet.
In the first half, West Virginia State struck first against Fairmont State, with a goal in the 19th minute from Sara París Fílter, assisted by
