BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia State baseball's Chase Norris was named the Mountain East Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Norris earned his fourth win of the season by tossing a no-hitter through 5.1 innings in a shutout of Glenville State on Saturday. He registered three strikeouts and only allowed three baserunners by walking batters in separate innings.

Norris made way for reliever Foster Conis in the top of the sixth after recording the first out of the inning on a sacrifice bunt. Conis maintained the shutout for 1.2 innings and combined with Norris for a one-hitter in the 3-0 victory.

Norris has not allowed a run to be scored against him in his last two starts. His 3.38 ERA is third-best in the MEC and his .221 opposing batting average is fifth-lowest in the league.
