LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) revealed the 2023 Tucci/NFCA DII Player & Pitcher of the Year watchlist on Thursday afternoon. West Virginia State's Kasey Murphy was 1-of-15 representatives from the Atlantic Region on this year's watchlist.

Murphy was named Second Team All-Region by the D2CCA and First Team All-MEC after she led the Yellow Jackets in nearly every hitting and pitching statistical category in 2022. This season, she is on track to do the same. She currently leads WVSU in batting average (.414), OPS (1.224), homeruns (6), RBIs (28), slugging percentage (.771), on-base percentage (.453), stolen bases (9), ERA (5.02), WHIP (1.89), complete games (5), wins (5) and strikeouts (38). 

In total, the NFCA named 115 student-athletes from across the country to its DII Player & Pitcher of the Year watchlist. Voted on by the NFCA's Division II All-American Committee, the 2023 Tucci/NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year will be announced on June 1st.
