INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State's women's basketball team fell to the West Liberty Hilltoppers inside the Walker Convocation Center on Wednesday night, 101-92. WVSU's (16-4, 11-4 MEC) nation-leading rebounding prowess was held at bay by a West Liberty team (13-8, 11-4 MEC) that hit nearly 60 percent of their field goals and 50 percent of their three point attempts.

Anysa Jordan led the WVSU scoring with 22 points and eight rebounds. ZZ Russell and Imani Reid each contributed 12 points and three boards. Alana Kramer was the final double-digit scorer with 10 points.

The Hilltoppers extended their lead to 15-3, then State put together a 13-0 run over the next two-and-a-half minutes to take a slim one point lead. The game was tied 25-all with just under a minute to play in the quarter before Jordan hit a turnaround the put the Jackets up by two then hit the backend of a pair of free throws just before the end of the quarter.

West Liberty took the lead for good 59 seconds into the second quarter at 29-28. Destiny Fields got the Jackets to within one point at 34-33 with 7:35 to play in the half and Anysa Jordan also got the Jackets to within a point coming out of the media timeout at 43-42 but a 14-3 run to close out the quarter put State behind the eight-ball at the halftime break.

State went on a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to close to within five points forcing a West Liberty timeout at 83-78 with 7:41 to play in the game.
