INSTITUTE, W.VA. – West Virginia State Volleyball returns to the Walker Convocation Center Tuesday, welcoming Central State for a 7 p.m. first serve.

THE SCOOP ON STATE
The Yellow Jackets have won 15 consecutive sets, including sweeping all four opponents of the Virginia State Invitational last weekend to earn the title of champions. WVSU enters the weekend on a 7-1 clip, dropping their only two sets of the season in the loss on opening weekend.
Junior
Diamond'Nique Young continues to impress in her debut year in the yellow and black, posting 98 kills at an incredible .506 hitting percentage. Young also tops the squad in rejections, with 27 total blocks.
The squad has a trio of Yellow Jackets with 80 assists or more, led by junior
Peri Martin's 117 and then joined by senior
Brooke Smith (86) and narrowly in third is junior
Kiersten Eggleton (85). Eggleton has recorded four double-doubles on the season this far, also nearing the top of the team in digs (86) and kills (73), both statistics she ranks second on the team in.

Alex Darby (102), had an impressive weekend, including a double-double performance against Chowan with 11 kills and 11 digs.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
Central State has yet to pick up a win on the season, having played just three contests in their 2022 campaign. Senior Cormaria Cooksey tops the squad with 17 kills on their young season, and also leads with six blocks.
The Marauders are led by first-year coach Anitra Brockman, but are coming off a 23-13 season in 2021, a program-best.

WVSU returns to the road this weekend, heading to the Union University Invitational in Jackson, Tenn., where they will face four squads in the two-day event.
