Women's Soccer weathers a long delay to upend Glenville, 4-0

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State women's soccer defeated Glenville State, 4-0, at Lakin-Ray Field on Sunday night. The Yellow Jackets came back after a two-and-a-half hour weather delay and added three goals to their 1-0 lead before the break in action.

WVSU improves to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in the Mountain East Conference with the win. Meanwhile, GSU drops to 0-4 on the season, 0-2 in the MEC with the loss.

Goal Summary

4th minute: Paula Herold took a free kick from 40 yards out and beat the keeper with a long, arching shot.

32nd minute: Brooklyn Pritt intercepted a throw from the opposing keeper and fired a shot into the back of the net.

56th minute: Fran Soares-Cupertino brought down a long ball from Delaney Day and dribbled around the goalie to score on a wide open net.

63rd minute: Esther Dhiramo stepped up to the spot on a penalty kick and scored with a low shot into the right side netting.
