INSTITUTE, W.VA. – West Virginia State Volleyball will have their 2022 home debut this week, welcoming Kentucky State for a 6 p.m. showdown Wednesday in the Walker Convocation Center.

THE SCOOP ON STATE
The Yellow Jackets started their campaign with a 2-1 record this past weekend, sweeping both Georgia College and Southern Wesleyan before dropping a five-set thriller to Limestone in the Saturday finale.
Junior transfer
Diamond'Nique Young was impressive out of the gate, tallying 48 kills on the weekend at a stellar .452 hitting efficiency, and has also recorded 13 blocks.
Classmate
Kiersten Eggleton delivered three consecutive double-doubles, finishing with 41 kills. Her 2022 opener was dynamic, hitting at a .545 clip with 13 slams. Eggleton has registered 45 digs thus far in the young season.
SCOUTING KENTUCKY STATE
The Thorobreds enter Wednesday with a 1-3 record, having dropped nine straight sets in their home tournament over the weekend. The squad is led by junior Shaska Davis with 31 kills on a .315 hitting percentage. Freshman Kendall Washington tops the squad on the net game with seven blocks and veteran Amaya Johnson leads the team with 45 digs.
UP NEXT
State will head back on the road this weekend, traveling to Ettrick, Va., for the Virginia State Invitational. WVSU will face Shippensburg and hosts VSU Friday, and will conclude the weekend with Chowan and Elizabeth City State on Saturday.
