INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- Following an exceptionally successful Week of Giving Challenge in 2020, West Virginia State University Athletics will host its second annual Week of Giving Challenge fundraising campaign beginning on Jan. 31 and lasting through Feb. 4, 2022.

Throughout the week, WVSU's 10 varsity teams will be rallying their former student-athletes, along with friends, family, and community members, to support their respective programs. In addition to the funds raised by each team, a generous donor has put forth two prizes to fuel the competition. The team that raises the most money and the team that rallies the most donors will each receive an additional $2,500 to further benefit their program.

"In 2020, the Giving Challenge made an incredible impact on our athletic department with over 900 gifts and $62,000 raised," said WVSU Athletic Director Nate Burton. "Our goal for 2022 is to raise $75,000. Any gift, no matter the size, will help us provide our student-athletes with a first-class experience."

When the challenge begins on Monday, Jan. 31 at 8 a.m., donations can be made by visiting https://give.wvstateu.edu/g/wvsuathleticsweek. Each team will have a designated landing page to make a program-specific donation when the site fully launches. The duration of time to donate will last through Friday, Feb. 4.
