- The Yellow Jackets managed three runs on six hits which was more than enough with the way Murphy was dominating in the circle.
Quick Recap
West Virginia State picked up the only run it needed to win with the second at bat in the bottom of the first.
Sarah Barrett doubled to left center to score
Emele Clark from second base, 1-0.
Madison Rafuson drove in two more runs later in the inning, 3-0. Murphy gave up back-to-back singles with one out in the bottom of the fourth as her only two hits allowed in the game. She left them both stranded after striking out the next batter and getting the last out of the inning with a flyout. Murphy retired the side in the fifth and sixth innings, then made up for walking the first two batters in the top of the seventh by forcing the next batter to ground out into a double play. A ground out to the shortstop ended the first game.

- Senior Paige Scruggs went 2-for-3 with a double and a base on balls. She drove in three runs and scored once.

- Senior Emily Moore earned her second win of the season for only giving up one hit in 2.2 innings pitched.
