WVSU Athletics announces spectator policy for outdoor sports
INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- In accordance with current local, state and federal health guidelines, West Virginia State University Athletics has announced its attendance policy for home athletic events this spring. Per the Mountain East Conference, this fan policy will go into effect on March 10.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • No fans or parents from visiting teams will be permitted at WVSU home events this spring.
  • Parking lots will be open an hour before game time.
  • No tailgating.
  • Gates will open 30 minutes prior to game time.
  • Pass lists will be used at each venue.
  • Spectators will be required to follow all COVID safety protocols including wearing a mask and social distancing. Game day staff will ensure that fans are following COVID protocols and anyone unable to wear their mask properly or who commits other COVID protocol violations will be asked to leave the venue immediately.
  • No concessions will be served and no food will be allowed. If you must eat, you will need to leave the venue and come back in when you are done. Non-alcoholic beverages will be allowed.
  • Fans will be required to leave the facility immediately following the game or match.
FOOTBALL:
  • Spectators will be limited to 275 at Lakin Field at Dickerson Stadium.
    • Student-athletes will be allowed two guests each.
    • 50 tickets for WVSU students – ticket must be picked up in the Athletics office by the Thursday of the week of the event at noon.
    • 25 tickets for W-Club
BASEBALL:
  • Student-athletes will be allowed two guests each. At this time, only those fans will be allowed to attend.
SOFTBALL: 
  • Student-athletes will be allowed two guests each. At this time, only those fans will be allowed to attend. 
WOMEN'S SOCCER:
  • Spectators will be limited to 100. Student-athletes will be allowed two guests each, and a limited number of fans will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis until the capacity of 100 spectators is reached.
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS:
  • Spectators will be limited to 25 at the Marvin D. Mills Tennis Complex. Student-athletes will be allowed two guests each, and a limited number of fans will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis until the capacity of 25 spectators is reached.
WVSU Athletics will continue to stream as many home events as possibly on WVSU Live. All home broadcasts for football, baseball, women's soccer and softball can be found at mountaineast.tv/wvsu/.
 
Our administration will continue to monitor the guidelines set forth by governmental agencies in the coming weeks and months. Any decisions about future attendance policy changes will be based on the health and well-being of student-athletes, coaches, spectators and the greater community.
