Volleyball Cruises to 13 Wins Friday with Glenville Sweep

GLENVILLE, W.VA. –  West Virginia State Volleyball continued its hot streak Friday, sweeping Mountain East Conference foe Glenville State in xxx by scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-

The veteran duo of Jenna Dufresne and Gabrielle Bullock were once again impressive on the offensive end for the Yellow Jackets, tallying 11 and 9 kills, respectively. Sophomore Kiersten Eggleton added eight at an incredible .667 hitting percentage and dished out 19 assists. Bullock topped the squad with 12 digs.

The Yellow Jackets used eight straight points early to build some cushion, featuring back-to-back aces from Dufresne, and two kills and a block from classmate J'Lana Stone, to go up 12-4.

The squad continued to hold a steady lead and then dominated late, delivering an 8-0 run- featuring a pair of kills from senior Grace Martin and three straight slams from Dufresne- to bring the squad to set point before Stone registered her second-straight kill to put WVSU up 1-0 at 25-11.

The Yellow Jackets carried their momentum into the second frame, using a handful of 4-0 sequences to double their lead at 22-11 and finished with three of the final four points of the set to head into the third frame up 2-0.

After a surge from the Pioneers early in the third set with five straight points, Eggleton supplied some hot swinging, tallying three kills in a 7-0 stint to put the Yellow Jackets back in control and with some cushion at 16-10.

Another Eggleton kill, followed by a slam from Martin and a GSC miscue built the WVSU lead to eight points at 19-11, where they cruised to victory after a five-point rally that featured both an Eggleton ace and kill that secured the victory.

Eggleton recorded six kills in the third set alone and Stone finished with six kills, hitting at a .455 efficiency and posting two solo rejections.
