INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The six-game winning streak for the West Virginia State University men's basketball team finally came to an end with a defeat to Glenville State, 107-97, on Wednesday night at the Walker Convocation Center.
West Virginia State drops to 12-4 overall, 7-4 in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) with the loss. Meanwhile, Glenville State improves to 10-7 on the season, 7-4 in the MEC with the win.

Jeremiah Moore recorded a career-high 27 points and grabbed six boards in the contest. Teammates
Glen Abram and
Michal Seals followed suit with 23 and 19 points, respectively. Seals had a well-rounded performance with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
The Pioneers started hot and quickly seized an 11-point lead, 16-5, in the opening six minutes. The Yellow Jackets eventually got going around the eight-minute mark. They went on a 20-5 run in the successive five minutes and ended up with a three-point lead, 37-34.
In the final three minutes of the first half, Glenville State reclaimed the momentum with a 15-7 run that put the Pioneers back in front. At halftime, WVSU trailed by five points, 49-44.
The second half was a true back-and-forth battle between the two teams. West Virginia State continually fell behind by double-digits and then fought back to within a bucket of GSC. Right around the 11-minute mark,
Michal Seals connected on a three-pointer to close the gap to one point, 76-75.
That was as close as the Yellow Jackets came to retaking the lead as the Pioneers managed to stay barely ahead for the rest of the game.
There was hardly a difference between the two sides on the scoresheet. Glenville State simply hit more shots from the field. The Pioneers shot 52 percent compared to 43 percent by West Virginia State.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Sunday, Jan. 26 against crosstown rivals Charleston. The game will be televised live on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh. The tip-off is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. at the Walker Convocation Center.
