Jackets Return Home With Four Game WIn Streak in Tow
While most of the world was turning in the Super Bowl the Yellow Jacket softball team was returning home Sunday from the UNC-Pembroke Invitational with a four game winning streak after defeating Kutztown 13-4 and Shippensburg 8-0 Sunday.

They were just fine right where they were.

"Everyone did their part,"WVSU Head Coach Mattie Best said. "It was definitely a team building weekend."

Freshman Paige Swisher drove in four runs with a single and triple in the morning game while Brookelyn Hale and Kasey Murphy each knocked in two.

Swisher's triple came at a particularly important point in the game.

   Murphy dominated the Shippensburg contest.

The freshman from Ironton, Ohio, drove in four runs with a single, double, and home run at the plate and threw a complete game, five-inning, four-hit shutout.

Best was very impressed those two rookies Sunday.

"Swisher came up with a triple at a critical time,"Best said. "Kasey drove in four runs to help herself."

The Yellow Jackets head south again in two weeks to play in the Big Freeze Tournament in Myrtle Beach  SC.
