West Virginia State University lost a heartbreaker on the road Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Wheeling, WV. WJU Taliah Cashwell hit a jumper at the buzzer to give Cardinals a hard fought 71-70 victory over the Yellow Jackets. WVSU took the lead on a pair of made free throws by Anesha Harmon with 27 seconds left in the game for a 70-69,

The Yellow Jackets (5-19 overall and 4-14 in the MEC) had great balance with four double figure scorers led by Sierra Womack with 16 points , followed by Charity Shears (15 points), Anesha Harmon (14 points), and Kalia Cunningham (10 points).

State will next return home on Thursday, February 21, 2019, against Shepherd University. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
