Men's Team Drops 91-81 Decision to Cardinals

West Virginia State University couldn't overcome a slow start in suffering a 91-81 loss on the road at Wheeling Jesuit University in the Mountain East Conference Saturday at the McDonough Center. Wheeling Jesuit University (6-18, 5-13) has won four of their last five games, led 42-19 at halftime. The Jackets came out hot in the second half scoring 62 points, cutting the deficit all the way down to seven at 68-61 with 6:16 left in the game, but couldn't get any closer.

Senior Pat Johnson-Agwu poured in 26 points for the Yellow Jackets, juniors Isaiah "Tuss" Noel tallied 17 points. Frank Agyemang (11 points) and Augustus "Gus" Stone (10 points) also scored double figures. State record is now 12-12 overall and 9-9 in league play, good for sole possession of sixth place.

The Yellow Jackets will next return home on Thursday, February 21st, 2019, to host Shepherd University. The Rams are in 7th place in the MEC standings. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
