Jackets Pass Road Test With Flying Colors
After Thursday night's home win WVSU men's basketball coach Bryan Poore pointed out that "now we have to learn to win on the road."

Saturday the Yellow Jackets showed that they have.

A strong shooting performance and solid defense led WVSU to a 78-64 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon.

After taking a 34-30 lead in halftime the Yellow Jackets hit a torrid 62.5 from the floor in the second half to gradually pull away.

"They are difficult to defend with lots of cuts and good ball movement, and five guys who can shoot the ball," Poore said. "Except for about 10 minutes in the first half we played really good defense."

WVSU held the Bobcats to just 41.8 shooting for the game as the Jacket defenders continuously harassed the ball=handlers and constantly kept a hand in the face of the Wesleyan shooters.

The Bobcats made one last run to pull within 53-52 with 9:26 to play but back-to-back three pointers from Frank Agyemang and and Ernest Jenkins reversed to momentum back to the Yellow Jackets.

"Any time you can get a road win in the conference it's good," Poore said. "We just have to keep working, we're getting better everyday."

Senior Pat Johnson-Agwu led a balanced attack with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Agyemang and Jenks added 11 each and Gus Stone 10.

The Yellow Jackets return home for a meeting with the University of Virginia at Wise at 7:30 p.m.
