WVSU Men Rally to Win
WVSU Men Rally to Win
The Yellow Jackets trailed by as many as 12 points in the early going but shook off the slow start to break the century mark for the first time this season and earn a 102-89 win over visiting Wheeling Jesuit Saturday in the Walker Convocation Center.

A 14-1 run gave WVSU a one point lead and the squads exchanged buckets for most of the remainder of the first half before the Cardinals managed to put together back-to-back baskets for a 42-40 halftime lead.

The second half was a different story though as the Yellow Jackets ratcheted up the pressure on defense and gradually pulled even and then ahead. A quick 10-2 run led by seven points from Pat Johnson-Agwu right out of the break gave WVSU a 50-44 lead and the Jackets never trailed again.

While the defense was forcing more turnovers and missed shots the Yellow Jacket shooting heated up. After hitting just one of their first 17 3-point attempts the Yellow Jackets dropped in 3-of-4 down the stretch as they expanded their lead.

Johnson-Agwu led the way with 27 points followed by Jeremiah Moore with 16 and Gus Stone with 14.

The Yellow Jackets next game is Thursday when they host Glenville State at 7:30 p.m.
