Volleyball Opens Home Slate Friday
    After opening the 2018 season with a 3-1 showing in tournament play in North Carolina last weekend the Yellow Jacket volleyball squad plays its first home matches of the season this Friday and Saturday.

    WVSU and the University of Charleston are co-hosting this year's MEC/PSAC Crossover Tournament beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday at both schools.

    The Yellow Jackets get things rolling with a match against Slippery Rock (0-0) in the opening game in the Walker Convocation Center.

    Action in Walker continues with Mercyhurst (1-3) and Shepherd (2-1) set for the 1:00 p.m. contest and Slippery Rock facing Shepherd at 4:00 p.m.

    The nightcap features the Yellow Jackets against Mercyhurst at 7:00 p.m.

     Play continues Saturday in Walker as Shepherd draws the opener against Kutztown (3-0) at 10:00 a.m. with WVSU and Shippensburg (2-2) up next at 1:00 p.m..

    Shippensburg and Shepherd play in the 4:00 p.m. game with the Yellow Jackets and Kutzown closing things out at 7:00 p.m..

  5260    Charleston (0-4) and Urbana (1-3) represent the Mountain East in the Charleston matches with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference squads flipping locations Friday and Saturday.

       Sophomore Tabi Pontious had 125 assists, 9.6 per set, last weekend to lead WVSU.

       Freshman Jenna Dufresne (left) paced the attack with 38 kills in the four matches with sophomore libero Emma Fetch making 44 digs, 2.9 per set, to pace the defense.
