West Virginia State University softball players Brittany Allison, Kayleigh Thompson, and Emily Moore were among those honored by the Mountain East Conference coaches Thursday.

Allison, the Yellow Jackets leading hitter, was a first team selection while Thompson and more were given second team nods.

A junior from Parkersburg, Allison hit .355 with six home runs and 33 runs batted in. She led WVSU in all three categories.

Thompson, the Jackets leadoff hitter, batted .313, had a .967 fielding percentage at shortstop, and was a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts.

Though just a freshman Moore led the WVSU pitching staff in wins with a 13-7 mark and earned run average at 2.66.

The Yellow Jackets open play in the MEC tournament Friday.
