
The Yellow Jackets won two out three games they played Friday on day one of the Shaw Softball Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina
WVSU dropped the first game of the day 10-9 to Millersville after trailing by seven runs in the fifth.

Mattie Best daid. "I couldn't ask for any better."
Brooklyn Hale's big game at the plate kept the Jackets' hopes alive as she finished 4-for-4 with five RBI.
The Yellow Jackets rebounded to win the next game as they used the right arm of
Emily Thompson and the bat of
Brittany Allison to carry them to a 2-0 win over Mansfield.
Thompson scattered three hits and struck out seven while going the distance in the circle. Allison drove in both WVSU runs, one with a single and the other on a solo home run.
The Jackets finished off their busy day with an 8-2 win over Virginia State.
Micha Mirabella ' s two run double in the sixth broke open a tie game. Meanwhile freshman
Emily Moore fanned six while pitching all seven innings.
"Emily (Thompson) and Emily (Moore) had two great games in the circle today to get the wins," Best said. "It's great to see the girls get fired up when things aren't going our way and blow a game wide open."
The tournament continues through Sunday.
