The Yellow Jacket basketball squads dropped games to visiting Wheeling Jesuit Thursday night in the Walker Convocation Center.

The WVSU women put up a good fight in the evening's open game pulling to within three points early in the fourth period before falling 73-56 to the Cardinals.

Trina Current paced the Jackets with 16 points followed by Shea Hines with 15.

In the second game the Jacket and Cardinal men battled on even terms for the first 20 minutes with WVSU leading 25-23 five minutes into the contest. Wheeling came back to take a 39-32 lead into halftime.

But after the break the Cardinals came out hot scoring the first 10 points of the second half and pulling away to a 97-74.

Awwal Reid led WVSU with 14 points and Keith Harris added 12.
