Box Score   The WVSU men opened their season Friday night with a hard fought 75-71 win over Chowan on the opening day of the Earl Lloyd Conference Challenge.

  Robert Fomby hit a 3-pointer with 6:15 to play in the first half to give the Yellow Jackets a 24-22 lead that they refused to relinquish the rest of the night pushing it to as many as 14 points in the second half.

  Senior Markee Mazyck picked up where he left off last season leading the way with 24 points and nine rebounds.

   Fomby, a junior out of Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio, ended up with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

   WVSU now plays Elizabeth City State at 6 p.m. Saturday.
