Box Score Both teams fought tooth and nail for every point and gave it their all each set but when the proverbial dust settled visiting West Virginia Wesleyan had managed to sneak out of Institute with a 3-1 win in volleyball action Saturday afternoon in the Walker Convocation Center.
The opening set saw the score tied eight times and Yellow Jackets trailing just 20-19 before the Bobcats reeled off five straight points to go up 1-0.
The teams traded the lead back and forth in game two with WVSU pulling ahead 20-19 on an
Allison Tumey kill before finally falling 25-23
There was no such drama in the third set as the Yellow Jackets led from the outset in cruising to a 25-18 win.
Unfortunately the visitors returned the favor in set four jumping out to an early lead and then holding off every WVSU attempt at a rally to take a 25-17 victory and the 3-1 match win.
Rebekah Baldwin finished with 12 kills and
Edwina Barnett nine while
Mallory Rennard had 19 assists and Tumey 16 to pace the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Tuesday when they host the University of Charleston at 7 p.m.
