WVSU Takes Third in Yellow Jacket Invitational Cross Country Meet

The Yellow Jacket hosted the first women's cross country meet in the short history of the program Wednesday and came away with a third place finish just five points behind Bluefield State for second.
The University of Charleston took the top three individual spots in the 5 kilometer race on its way to winning the event.
     Salem International was fourth.
DeYahnna Styles took eighth and Rachel Ward ninth to lead WVSU, which actually ran a slightly better cumulative time than Bluefield (2:03.204 - 2:03.486).
Laura Szorenyi, Brianna Hawkins, and Amiea Summers all scored for the Jackets.
The squad completes its season in the Mountain East Conference championship meet on Saturday, October 24, in Bridgeport.
