Box Score Trailing 2-0 to visiting Concord Friday night the WVSU volleyball squad turned up its intensity to win the third set and fight down to the wire in the fourth before falling 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, and 25-22.
The Yellow Jackets were down two sets and 15-20 in the third but refused to go away.
A
Hayley Kirby service ace completed a 10-2 run down the stretch to give WVSU the set and force a fourth.
The Mountain Lions jumped out to a 10-5 lead before the Yellow Jackets again fought their way back to tie things up at 12-12.
After that the score swung back and forth with the final tie coming at 22-22.
Kirby, 13 kills, and
Karee Vaughn, 12 kills, led the attack with
Anneelise Albrecht being credited with 32 assists.
A strong defensive effort was paced by several Jackets including
Brooke Cieslewski, 22 digs, Kirby, 16 digs,
Tori Strong with 14, and Albrecht along with
Mattie Best making 12 digs each.
