The WVSU women's basketball team started the day off with a 73-58 win over visiting West Virginia Wesleyan and the Yellow Jacket men finished it off with an impressive 82-64 victory over the Bobcats.
Lexy Carson paced the women with 30 points while Asia Greenleaf contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds. Anton Hutchins' 16 point, nine rebound effort led a balanced men's attack.
The women led from start to finished with the Bobcats unable to draw closer than six points after the opening minutes.
India Taste added 11 points and Shaelyn Shafer pulled down 12 rebounds for WVSU.
The Yellow Jacket men trailed for just 1:40 in the first half but scored the final eight points of the period on the way to a 36-28 advantage at the break. The Bobcats pulled to within four twice early in the second half before the Jackets began to pull away. A final 8-0 run beginning with 6:47 to play stretched to margin to 17 and settled the matter.
Juan Johnson contributed 15 points, Dimitrios Jelen-Joy 12, Bo King 11, and Dominic Phillips 10.
